ANCA Research and Evidence-Based Practice Award Program

The Army Nurse Corps Association, through the Research and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Award Program, annually presents awards for contributions to professional nursing knowledge and practice.  These include the Research Award and the EBP Award.  The recipients of these two awards are selected by the ANCA Nursing Research Committee with approval by the ANCA Board.  ANC officers (active, honorably separated or retired) of all ranks and components may be nominated. Self-nominations are accepted.  A general call for nominations is issued to the full membership in the March and June issues of The Connection, and on ANCA’s social media. 

Deadline for receipt of nominations by e-mail to the Chair, Nursing Research Committee is 1 July of each year.

Research Award Criteria

  • Significance of contribution to professional nursing knowledge or practice
  • At least one study as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator
  • Regional, National or international recognition
  • Evidence of dissemination in professional literature (published or in press)
  • Contributions as mentor and colleague

EBP Award Criteria

  • Significance of contribution to professional nursing practice
  • Outside recognition by community agencies or professional associations
  • Evidence of presentation by poster, podium, or professional literature
  • Inter-professional collaboration

Awardees are recognized here and at the biennial convention.  Awardees will be presented an ANCA coin and an enduring memento.  Point of contact for the program is the Chair, Nursing Research Committee.

Nominations

To nominate yourself, a colleague, or a team, submit by email to the Chair, Nursing Research Committee the following by 1 July of each year:

  1. Nomination and Support Letter addressing general info, award category, how the criteria are met) prepared by officer, colleague, or supervisor, as per these guidelines.
  2. Brief Biographical Sketch of nominated officer (1-2 pages, NIH style recommended).
