The Army Medical Department Museum at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, is planning a modernization and upgrade. This will include moving the building's entrance to make access possible without entering the Post. Other major improvements include enlargement of the auditorium, a new outdoor pergola for exhibiting a comprehensive display of aeromedical evacuation vehicles, and upgrading the indoor exhibit area. The cost of phase one of the combined project, relocating the entrance, is projected to be $1.5 million. There will be no government money to fund the project; the museum foundation must raise all funding for it through the donations of friends and supporters of military healthcare.
