Preserving Our Past, Capitalizing on the Present, Embracing the Future

The Deployed Army Nurse Appreciation Initiative

At the 2016 Army Nurse Corps Association Convention, ANCA is again providing the opportunity for an active duty Army Nurse to participate with us at no cost.  Specific requirements to apply for this initiative were:

  • Army Nurse Corps applicant must have previously been deployed in support of combat operations, and must be on active duty in any component (NG and RC personnel must be on active drilling status) during the Convention period.
  • Applicant must be in good standing and have the endorsement of the local Chief Nurse Executive. If assigned to units without Senior Army Nurses, appropriate Chain of Command should be used.   Annual Leave must have been approved (mission permitting).  An alternate name will be drawn.
  • The winner and roommate must accept the responsibility for ensuring that all pertinent military travel requirements are met.
  • A drawing is the mechanism for selection of the winner of this no-cost convention. The drawing will take place on or about 30 March 2016 by the ANCA President. Notification of the winner and alternate will follow.
  • This will be a complimentary Convention for two. The winner can select a roommate of choice.  Should that selection be another active duty service member, then it is understood that the usual chain of command approval for the leave period must be used.
  • Financial support for this initiative will come from donations. If you would like to contribute to this initiative, please download the Donation Form.
  • Arrangements will be made by the 2016 ANCA Convention Chair in coordination with the selected officer and officer's chain of supervision.
  • Suspense for receiving applications was 15 March 2016.

The complimentary package for two will include:

  • Travel from duty station/home to San Diego, California and return, convention registration, all meetings, specialty group sessions, and all meals
  • Three night stay at the Marriott Mission Valley hotel
  • Continuing Education credits
  • Program at the Navy Medical Center San Diego, tour of the San Diego area, and visit to the Hospital Ship Mercy
  • A two-year ANCA Gift membership, or if already an ANCA member, a two year membership extension
