The purpose of the Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Program is to award scholarships to U.S. citizen students attending accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing or anesthesia nursing programs.

Captain Joshua M. McClimans The 2012 scholarships are in honor of of Captain Joshua M. McClimans, AN, USAR, who was killed in a mortar attack in April 2011 while assigned to the Combat Support Hospital at Forward Operating Base Salerno in Afghanistan. A native of Jamestown, Pennsylvania, Captain McClimans was a 2003 graduate of the University of Akron School of Nursing in Ohio. He had served a previous active duty tour in Iraq and at Walter Reed Army Medical Center before joining the Reserve.

The 2012 ANCA scholarships have been awarded; our congratulations to the recipients. For information and application procedures regarding the ANCA scholarship program for 2013, watch this space in the coming months.

Eligibility Criteria

* Nursing or anesthesia students who plan to enter a component of the US Army and are enrolled in a program not funded by any component of the US Army.
* Nursing or anesthesia students who have previously served in a component of the US Army.
* Army Nurse Corps officers in any US Army component enrolled in a baccalaureate or graduate nursing or nursing anesthesia program not funded by the US Army.
* Army enlisted soldiers in any US Army component enrolled in a baccalaureate degree nursing program not funded by the US Army.
* Nursing or anesthesia students whose parent(s), spouse, and/or children are or have served in any component of the US Army.

Applications are normally due by 1 April each year, using that year's application form and procedures. Applications are reviewed by the ANCA Education Committee, and scholarship recipients are notified within a few weeks of the application deadline date. Scholarship funds are sent to the school to be managed for the student and not sent directly to the student.

The Army Nurse Corps Association does not have an official relationship with the US Army, the Army Nurse Corps or the Reserve Officer Training Corps.
