The purpose of the ANCA Education Fund is to award scholarships to established
and qualified baccalaureate or graduate nursing programs. Current grants are awarded in memory of Captain Maria I. Ortiz, AN, the first Army nurse to die as a result of enemy action in Iraq. For complete information about ANCA scholarships, download the ANCA Scholarship Program brochure.

To be eligible for the monetary award, the school must:
-
Have a baccalaureate or graduate nursing program approved by an agency acceptable to
the United States Secretary of Education.

which ANCA grants are disbursed to the nursing student(s) as selected

General Information
Applications must be forwarded to ANCA by 1 April of each year. At that time, all applications received will be reviewed by the ANCA Education Committee and selected schools will be notified. A previous grant to a school does not preclude reapplication. The educational institution uses the grant to provide needed financial assistance to a nursing student(s) chosen by the school. ANCA cannot award scholarships directly to students.
ANCA has developed award priorities that schools are asked to consider when selecting a student(s). These priorities focus on students who have or have had a connection with the Active Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserve. These priorities, along with details and a description of the application process are outlined in the ANCA Scholarship Program brochure.
