The ANCA Research and Evidence-Based Practice Seed Grant Program

The Army Nurse Corps Association has launched a Research and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Seed Grant Program to assist Army nursing researchers. This initiative has been made possible by a generous bequest designated for the areas of research and education. Many ANCA members from all components – active, reserve and retired – have great ideas for projects to enhance understanding (research) and/or to solve professional practice problems by applying the evidence (EBP). The idea for the seed grant program emanated from a research special interest group at the recent biennial ANCA convention, responding to the limited availability of research grant funding from other sectors of the economy. The program is built on an electronic platform for streamlined online submission, communication, and tracking.

Of particular interest are projects that:

  • enhance health care delivery systems and processes to improve clinical and/or cost outcomes;
  • advance military nursing in support of mission readiness and deployment; and/or
  • improve the health status and quality of life of military personnel and their family members, including retired service members.

The 2018 grants have been awarded, but we expect to award as many as five grants will be awarded in 2019, each for up to $2,000. Army Nurse Corps Officers (active, separated, or retired; all components) who are current ANCA members are encouraged to apply. Other eligible researchers and scholars may apply by becoming an ANCA member. The deadline to submit an application and brief proposal next year will be 20 April 2019.
